While I was scrolling TikTok one night in between my latest romantasy reads, I stumbled upon an intriguing video from creator @there_y0u_are (which you can see below) asking city girls who regularly walk over 25,000 steps for comfortable summer shoe recommendations that are actually chic—a tall ask, in my experience. So, of course, I went straight to the comment section and found that one of the most-liked comments was a rave review of Frēda Salvador's Sera Fisherman sandals ($450), which come in a ton of different colors and materials.

Seeing that over 4,000 TikTokers liked the recommendation by Brooke that read, "Frēda Salvador fisherman sandals...IDK what’s in them but they’re soooo soft and never hurt," I was too curious not to put them to the test—especially since the fisherman style is trending this season. Here's how it went.

The exact version I tested are the Sera Fisherman sandals in the stucco suede with silver studs colorway, which feature a soft beige suede material, Italian silver-plated metal stud accents and a rubber outsole for traction. They come in sizes 5 through 11 (with half sizes included) and boast an adjustable buckle that offers plenty of options for getting your perfect fit. For sizing, I went with my usual and found that they ran true to size.

My Review of the Frēda Salvador Sera Fisherman Sandals

Frēda Salvador

If I'm being completely honest, going into this I was a bit skeptical. One thing that I, and other TikTok commenters, noticed is that the sandals don't feature a raised footbed for arch support, but thanks to the padding, I didn't miss it much. And I have to say, these were comfy from the get-go and didn't require any break-in time at all.

After wearing them one day for just a couple of hours to test the waters, I committed to a full day out with them on, when I knew I'd be able to up my step count. Now, I should mention, I live in L.A.—a decidedly not walkable city compared to places like NYC, Paris and London—and I struggled to think of a place where I could reach 25k steps in a day (minus a hike, of course, which simply wasn't an option for sandals). But luckily, there happened to be a street art fair on nearby, so I strapped the Sera sandals on in the morning and headed out.

To get some extra steps in, I parked about a mile away from the starting location of the fair and walked with my dog along the beachside path to get there. After a bit of exploring, and more than 5,000 steps in, I took a break to grab a snack and check in on the sandals. At this point, I still felt completely comfortable and didn't see any signs of redness or blisters developing (you can see the evidence in the video below).

From there, I continued exploring and made the walk back to my car, at which point I was at a bit over 10,000 steps. By that point I was tired. It was a pretty hot day out, and it's honestly not often that I even get that many steps-per-day in around L.A. (which is definitely something I should work on). But aside from the tiredness in my feet and legs, they didn't actually hurt at all—still no blisters or rubbing, which I consider practically a miracle when it comes to new shoes.

To get just a tiny bit more walking in, I made a trip to the grocery store and officially ended the day with around 12,200 steps, which, yes, is about half the amount other city-dwelling girls touted on TikTok, but considering that I'd worn these sandals two days in a row at this point, I was seriously impressed. The only things that could make these shoes a touch better would be a bit of arch support and a thicker sole to elevate my feet off the street a little more, but neither of those will stop me from wearing the Sera fisherman sandals all summer long.

Bottom Line: Are They Worth It?

Overall, I can't say enough good things about these shoes. They're unbelievably comfortable from the second you put them on, stylish, versatile enough to wear with anything from shorts to sundresses, and while they're definitely a splurge, they're shoes that I can see myself wearing multiple times a week for years to come. So you might also want to take TikTok's advice and snag a pair for yourself—no matter your daily step count.
