From the late Queen Elizabeth's beloved corgis to Kate Middleton and Prince William's black Cocker Spaniel, Orla, it's no secret that canines play a key role in the lives of the royal family. Most recently, the royals welcomed another furry friend to the mix, and no one is more thrilled than Queen Camilla.

The 77-year-old royal adopted a rescue dog in February and made the surprise announcement at a previous event in Canterbury. At the time, she teased that he had "a bit of everything" and "looks just like a mole," which inspired his name, Moley. And now, the new pup has finally made his Instagram debut. In a charming portrait released by Buckingham Palace this week, the queen cuddles her Jack Russell Terrier with a big smile. She captioned the post, "Meet mischievous Moley, The Queen’s new much-loved canine companion who was recently adopted from @Battersea where Her Majesty is Patron."

The queen also announced that Moley would make a special appearance at the RHS and BBC Radio 2 Dog Garden at Chelsea Flower Show—a dog-friendly space that features grassy areas, large trees and brick paths inscribed with the names of dogs belonging to Radio 2 presenters and RHS ambassadors.

In her IG caption, the queen continued, "The names of The Queen’s adopted Jack Russell Terrier, Bluebell and her new puppy, Moley, will feature on the path, alongside that of her much-loved dog Beth, who passed away last year. The name of The King’s dog, Snuff, is also included on the path. The Garden for Dogs will live on after RHS Chelsea, at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home."

In the comments, Battersea wrote, "We’re so proud to see Moley thriving with Her Majesty. We wish The Queen a wonderful visit to the Dog Garden today and are honoured that it will live on at Battersea."

The royal family's newest addition comes just a few months after Queen Camilla's rescue dog, Beth, sadly passed away from an untreatable tumor.

In November 2024, the royal family announced the news in a heartfelt tribute that read, "A sad farewell to Beth, The Queen’s much-loved companion from @Battersea Dogs and Cats Home who brought such joy, whether on walkies, helping on official duties or curled up by the fire."

The queen also owns a Jack Russell Terrier named Bluebell, who, like Moley, was adopted from Battersea. Here's hoping the two pups stick around for a very long time.
